N22 Baile Bhuirne to Macroom Bypass
Project overview
IAC were appointed to undertake all aspects of the pre-planning archaeological impact assessment of the 22km corridor for the N22 Baile Bhuirne to Macroom Bypass. Initial involvement included contribution to the route selection report and preferred route stage assessment. A detailed archaeological, architectural & cultural heritage chapter was produced for the EIAR which contained an assessment of all baseline data, including those significant sites that are not subject to statutory protection.
Detailed historical research was also carried out for an IRA ambush site to be impacted upon by the scheme. At Oral Hearing IAC successfully presented evidence on the archaeological, architectural and cultural heritage aspect of the project. The scheme was granted permission by An Bórd Pleanála in 2011.
