Job Opportunity: Post-Excavation Supervisor

Due to ongoing and continued business growth, we are currently looking for an experienced archaeologist to join our friendly team in our Kilcoole office in County Wicklow.

TITLE: Post-excavation Supervisor
LOCATION: IAC Head Office, Network Enterprise Centre, Kilcoole, Co Wicklow/ home working (subject to agreement).
CONTRACT: Initial Full-time (37.5 hour-week Mon-Fri.) one year contract. Immediate start.
REMUNERATION: €34-37,000 per annum (dependant on experience).

JOB DESCRIPTION

Main Roles and Responsibilities
• Oversee post-excavation processes
• Quality assure materials/archives
• Manage finds processing and sample processing programmes, priorities and deliverables
• Assist in managing, costing and purchasing systems for internal and external specialists analyses
• Liaise with specialists including identifying specific processing requirements
• Manage materials and archive store and logistics
• Oversee work programmes, including other staff, on multiple post-excavation projects
• Liaise with deposit institutions on accession and deposit requirements and processes
• Undertake post-excavation related tasks including reporting

REQUIREMENTS

Essential Requirements
• A third level degree (Level 8 or equivalent) in archaeology or a related discipline
• Demonstrable experience working on post-excavation and excavation projects
• Demonstrable familiarity with the general range of artefacts likely to encountered in the course of your work
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel)

Desirable Requirements
• Demonstrable experience in sample and finds processing
• Demonstrable experience in labelling and recording finds in compliance with NMI Standards
• Valid Safepass and Manual Handling training
• Full EU driving licence, or equivalent

Person Specification
• Ability to work effectively either autonomously or as part of a team
• Excellent time and project management skills
• Good communication and inter-personal skills
