IAC undertook archaeological monitoring of ground works associated with the Mungret to Inchmore Gas Pipeline and three Above Ground Installations (AGIs) to the south of Limerick. The route corridor, which measured 7.1km, extended east from the N69 to terminate at Inchmore near the R512 Ballyneety Road. The working width of the pipeline route was approximately 30m.
Three sites of archaeological significance were identified during monitoring, one of which, a small burnt mound at BGN Ballykeeffe 2, was preserved in situ. The remaining two sites were fully excavated by IAC. BGN Ballykeeffe 1 represented the remains of a second burnt mound and BGN Bohereen 1 appeared to be a Bronze Age round house.
