ASI: ARCHAEOLOGICAL SCENE INVESTIGATIONS IN NORTH LOUTH
IAC collaborated with County Museum, Dundalk to develop an exhibition highlighting some of the many archaeological discoveries made during the construction of the M1 western bypass. The exhibition featured a host of interesting discoveries including a couple of beautifully decorated and carved stones, a copper pin, glass beads, several intact bowls dating from the Stone Age as well as an extremely rare bowl with five feet. A number of great ‘work-in-progress’ photographs at sites including Donaghamore, Faughart Lower, Newtownbalregan and Carnmore were also included. The exhibition also looked at the methods by which archaeologists investigated and interpreted the archaeological remains.
