IAC undertook archaeological monitoring of ground works associated with the erection of anĀ 110kV electricity transmission line from Arva to Shankill, Co. Cavan. The transmission line will connect the existing 110kV stations at Arva and Shankill which are separated by 24km.

The route encroached on the constraint zones of three recorded monuments, CV025-027 site of possible megalithic structure, CV031-010 a portal tomb and CV031-039 a rath/ringfort An EIS concluded that it was possible that numerous low visibility monuments and sites buried below the ground, may be located along the proposed route of the line.

Archaeological monitoring was carried out intermittently over the course of 11 months however nothing of archaeological significance was identified in any of the monitored areas.
