IAC undertook archaeological monitoring of ground works associated with the Newtownfane to Haynestown Gas Pipeline to the south-west of Dundalk. The route corridor, which measured 2.6km, extended east from the Newtownfane, traversing the M1, to terminate at Haynestown. The working width of the pipeline route was approximately 30m. A single site of archaeological significance was identified during monitoring which was fully excavated by IAC. BGN Dunmahon 2 may represent a structure formed by c. 8 pits and postholes arranged in a roughly circular fashion.
